Meet Shana
This part is weird for me. Am I trying to sell myself? Make you believe I know what I’m talking about? Or just simply say “yo“? Heck, I don’t know.
Here’s who I am professionally - Shana Schmidt ~ ms lpc founder and owner of Just Kids & Some Babies, LLC. I have been serving families and professionals for over 15 years in our small county in Kansas.
Who I am personally is Mom, wife, daughter, friend, sister, runner, Christ lover, reader, writer, rapper (I wish), gift giver, hugger, cook, maid, dancer, taxi driver, cheerleader, lover of beers & wines, grocery shopper, and on occasion a blogger.
After completing my master’s degree in counseling back in 1997 (6 weeks after delivering our son), I found a niche working with families who struggle to manage day-to-day activities and pressures. This is what I was trying to do and I knew others had to be looking for help too. I have worked in community mental health, addictions counseling, foster care, early childhood social/emotional development, parent consultation, and mental health consulting.
I think my passion for work with families brings a unique spin on typical. Families have the opportunity to share secrets about the children they have been blessed to nurture as well as the children who bring them to their knees.
Through my own experience raising our children and living life, I have learned that humor is the best medicine when dealing with typical behaviors, however love is the driving force behind teaching a new skill to replace unwanted behaviors.
